AeroSpec

Project Overview

Air quality is a critical factor in human health and well-being, particularly in environments such as hospitals, manufacturing plants, and areas affected by forest fires. Our air quality monitoring solution, Aerospec, addresses the limitations of traditional indoor sensors, which typically monitor air quality at a single location. Aerospec is a mesh sensor network designed to simultaneously monitor air quality across multiple locations. A dedicated web server will be deployed to remotely manage the sensors and collect real-time data on their status.

Long-Term Goals

  • Design a reliable air quality sensor module
  • Build an Aerospec sensor array for monitoring indoor air quality
  • Deploy a web server for data collection and analysis, as well as a user-friendly data visualization webpage
  • Sensors cross-calibration to avoid detection of drifting
  • Startups and commercial products

Skills You Will Develop

  • Arduino System Design
  • Web server management and website design
  • Data collection and analysis
  • PCB Design Skill

Quick Points

  • The project aims to design a commercialized Aerospec sensor to deploy to different environments.
  • Using WI-FI technology to realize data aggregation and processing from multiple sensors was vital to the project.
  • The project will offer opportunities to learn about academic paper writing and the possibility of co-authoring journal and conference papers.
